Greenslade Road, Raglan — Completed September 2025

The project

Steve wanted his kitchen and lounge opened up — one continuous space instead of two separate rooms. The dividing wall was load-bearing, so the answer was a 9-metre steel beam spanning the new opening. Real engineering, not just knocking a wall through.

A 9-metre beam is a serious size for a residential build, and getting it into the room takes some doing. Once it was in and carrying the load above, the rest followed — relining, finishing, and pulling the two spaces together so they read as one continuous room.

Late-stage finishing — new kitchen island wrapped for protection, cabinets installed, dropsheets covering the new floor
